Horoscopes and the like

[man... yesterday was awesome fun! Hehe... read some interesting fun facts too... =P. Cherades, food, sleepover, man... the life. Hui Hui]

Horoscopes. Zodiacs. Feng Shui. Voodoo Dolls. Curses. Potions. Spells. Superstition.

Despite not believing in horoscopes, many of us read it; despite not believing in voodoo dolls, many of us are afraid of them anyway; despite not believing in spells and potions, we still stay away. I guess it's inevitable that we somewhat find these things "unoffendable", for the sake of our own peace at mind.

I like to read my daily horoscope on Friendster, as it is convenient and usually really interesting. When one's horoscope does apply to one that day, one may feel surprisingly happy, or unhappy, as one's feelings or thoughts have just been read and exposed by some stranger. How do they foresee horoscopes anyway? The study of the starts, planets, surroundings... legitimate? I've always wondered about that.

Spells and potions were popular in my childhood. Just playing around like the friendly witches in some children's book, mixing up flower petals and water, hoping to make some sort of potion to make some spell. Ahh... those fun times. Witches were prosecuted, they were deemed evil and incorrect- suppose main stream assimilation overrides everything else huh?

Do you just read horoscopes for the sake of reading it for interest? Do you believe it somewhat? Would you allow someone to make a voodoo doll of yourself despite not believing in things like that? Science... it's definitely not enough to explain what the creative human mind can accomplish. Not now, anyway.
